The Joint Annual Meeting of the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Community Federation celebrated the new Jewish Community of Louisville. The meeting was on Monday, June 29, at 7 p.m. at the JCC. All traditional community awards were presented.

June 19, 2009- Since the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Community Federation merged to become the Jewish Community of Louisville on May 1, there has been a lot of excitement as members of the community anticipate restructuring that will result in the vibrant, responsive, energized agency communal leaders envision.

The Louisville Jewish Community has reason to be proud. On Super Sunday, February 22, and during the following week, more than 115 volunteers made calls to members of the Louisville Jewish community. More than 700 individuals responded, pledging approximately $230,000 to the 2009 Federation Annual Campaign. That represents a 8.5 percent increase over the amount pledged by the same people last year. More than 170 people who did not participate in last year’s Campaign made commitments to the 2009 Campaign.

When the Louisville Jewish community launched its Melton site in 1999, it tapped into a population hungry to learn. Here was an opportunity to engage in serious Jewish learning, as adults, centered on finding meaning rather than learning facts.
The Federation Annual Campaign's Women's Event on December 4 was a celebration of what women can do and a challenge to those present to identify a vision then strive to achieve it. The event, held at The Temple, drew a crowd that filled the chapel, as Carolyn Neustadt received the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award and Laurie Ann Goldman, the CEO of Spanx, told her story and inspired her listeners to strive to achieve their goals. more
“Mother's Circle is something I've been waiting for for nine years,” said Christon Segal.
The wait is over. Mothers Circle, a program of the Jewish Community Federation, is an educational and support program for mothers of different faiths who have chosen to raise their children Jewish. It began meeting September 14. more

During a tree planting ceremony held in honor of JFVS' 100th anniversary on Sunday, December 7, Judy Freundlich Tiell, executive director of the Jewish Family & Vocational Service, announced that the Board of Directors has changed the organization's name to the Jewish Family & Career Services. The new name, which was chosen to better reflect the organization's mission, will go into effect on January 1. more
